Race Analysis: Men’s 50metres Freestyle Top 3 from Olympic Games Tokyo 2020

Men’s 50m Freestyle is the fastest distance in the Olympics and is considered Royal.
All athletes swam 50metres freestyle in the final very well.
But our analysis will focus on the Top 3 athletes.

Caeleb Dressel has an excellent start, which gives him the advantage to lead from the first meters of the race. Other swimmers have a great start and have a lot of experience in 50 metres freestyle too. The start is very important for Sprinters because it is 30% of the 50 metres distance.

Caeleb Dressel, during the start at the first meters underwater, didn’t do dolphin kicks, as many swimmers do, but let his body slide.
Florent Manaudou and Bruno Fratus started dolphin kicks immediately after entering the water.

The Florent Manaudou is doing seven butterfly kicks even for comparison, while the Caeleb Dressel is only six butterfly kicks.

After the first 25 meters of the race, Caeleb Dressel confidently leads the Florent Manaudou ~+0.4 seconds and Bruno Fratus ~+0.5 seconds.

Bruno Fratus has in the first 25 meters the stroke rate 56+. The usual for this distance stroke rate is 61+.


Florent Manaudou shows perfect speed in the second 25 meters and holds until the finish line.
