Learn to Swim

Swimming can be taught at any age but can be learned much faster and easier when taught at a younger age. As the brain of young children is still developing, they grasp more knowledge faster than when they get older. From overcoming the fear of water to becoming a strong swimmer, SpeediSwim takes children through a series of lessons to build up skills and confidence, helping them understand safety and discover their aquatic potential. It is important to remember that every child learns at their own individual pace. Learning to swim is not a race in itself

Swimming is one of the most popular extra-curricular activities that children enjoy. Going to swimming lessons is a great way for children to learn water safety and physical exercise, which provides a workout for the whole body. Swimming is fun, and learning to swim early will reduce a child’s fear of water, when they overcome these fears, kids benefit from developing confidence in their swimming ability and will feel more comfortable and enjoy themselves in the water, making pools and beaches a less stressful environment.

Speediswim has an elaborate Learn To Swim program that will make sure they have all the required skills they need to succeed to the next level and eventually help in preparing the young swimmers for the competitive world of swimming. Children thrive on learning new skills. But learning to swim is not a race, your child can learn at their own pace.

Competitive Swimming

Competitive swimming is swimming at the highest level of stroke ability, speed, and to perform at the top while racing with other competitors. There are four main competitive swimming strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. There is also the combination of all four strokes in an event called Individual Medley (I.M.).

Each race can be a new learning experience for the swimmer. Running through every aspect of the race, analysing and adjusting can help the swimmer bounce back stronger. It is all about the hard work that the athlete is willing to put in. Swimming offers many unique advantages over other sports making it an ideal choice for young people. Long-time swimmers can attest to the life skills gained by participation, including time management, goal setting, co-operation and independence.

Training for competitive swimming is time-consuming. If you have the passion, SpeediSwim can help you reach your full potential. Our team of international coaches are well qualified in their respective fields, and they will groom you into a champion.

Artistic Swimming

Established in 2005, Speediswim has nurtured SIngapore’s first batch of artistic swimmers (formerly known as synchronised swimming). We have produced many topnotch artistic swimmers such as Debbie Soh, Stephanie Chen, Crystal Yap and more. Philip, Founder of Speediswim, was a vice-president of artistic swimming in Singapore Swimming Association, bringing Singapore her first gold medal in the SEA Games in the sport in 2015.

Artistic Swimming was once referred to as ‘water ballet.’ This is because the routines are simply a sequence of athletic movements choreographed to a piece of music. It is similar to staged ballet, except that it is performed in water.Although it is art, beauty, and dance choreographed to music, don’t be deceived by the glitzy performance and lipsticked smiles on the athletes’ faces. Below the surface, top-conditioned competitors perform remarkable feats of strength and flexibility. In fact, even while displaying their choreographed acrobatics with rhythm and flair, artistic swimmers spend much time underwater, performing some routines on a single breath.
